CORE VALUES OF CMCS

PEOPLE FIRST
  • Because they are created in the image of God, people have intrinsic value, purpose and worth. They come before programs and agendas and outcomes. Rather, they are the outcome. Students, teachers, staff, families, our community - they matter and we will always make choices based around that truth. We strive to be one of the best schools in Detroit, not for our sake, but because education is the gateway to so much for these amazing children.

LIBERAL ARTS
  • Following the philosophies of Charlotte Mason (a revolutionary British educator who stood against utilitarian education) we will champion a living education that encompasses the growth of the whole child. We will encourage a love of learning that extends beyond the classroom for the good of our students and their communities, while engaging them in a challenging liberal arts education.
EDUCATIONAL JUSTICE
  • In a world that increasingly commodifies people - especially children and particularly those in urban areas - we will provide an urban education that counteracts social inequality. We will break down barriers of means and circumstance to make an enriching education available to any and all.

Great teaching school. Work with students at their stage.

My son loves this school (and so do we)! There are so many benefits to this school: small class sizes, teachers who meet each student where they are at, a focus on well-rounded education, just to name a few. But what I really love about this school is that it`s a community of people who are all dedicated to raising great kids, inside and out. When I send my son to school, I know he is surrounded by people who strive to make him the best person he can be.

As a parent of three daughters living in Detroit, there is no other school I would want to send my girls to. Facilities, teachers, administration, school philosophy, safe environment, parent involvement...this school has it all and they work incredibly hard to make the school available to every Detroit kid. An amazing place for a child to learn and grow.
