School Reviews

5
St. Hugo has a commitment to its mission "It must be different with us" and that shows in the way every student and member of the school community is given every opportunity to excel, to grow, to be accepted and celebrated, and to develop a solid foundation in academics, faith, athletics, extracurriculars, and a Christian responsibility to live tenets such as kindness and actively helping others. The school is always striving to improve, to create more opportunities for students, and to educate and support the whole person. It's one of the few schools outside of high schools or universities that has a solid student-centered educational philosophy. The school also works very hard to offer staff and services to support inclusive education and welcome students with differences, understanding that even without public school funding, inclusion is possible and can be done well (even if not on the same scale as at a public school) when educators want to make it possible and are open to creative solutions. The school also listens to new opportunities for extracurriculars and curriculum changes voiced by the community and makes informed, evidence-based decisions to offer as many beneficial opportunities as the school can support. As an alum, I know St. Hugo was central to my development as a person and a Catholic, and the school is even better now when my children are students there. After some shockingly bad experiences at other local catholic schools, St. Hugo has proven itself as a community of amazing educators and families and an institution that lives the words of its mission statement.
